Looking for the best St. Paul’s Bay Hotels to choose from?
You’ve come to the right place. In this short guide I’ll help you with my selected recommendations of popular hotels in the area as a tourist-turned-local.
St. Paul’s Bay Malta is a lovely place to stay but finding a good hotel there can be challenging. A lot of budget options are offered that don’t live up to decent standards and cause people headaches while they’re meant to relax when they visit Malta.
Most hotels in the area are 3- or 4-star properties and are in demand among people with families on holiday.
Here’s a quick overview to help you shortlist a few recommendations:
The db San Antonio Hotel + Spa is one of the best hotels in St. Paul’s Bay you can stay at. With modern interiors, high-quality amenities, spacious and comfortable rooms (also available with sea view), this is a popular choice of stay.
Because of its popularity and high standards, the rates increase quickly here so book well in advance to get the best prices.

The Park Lane Boutique Aparthotel is a great hotel in an area that’s known more for larger, family-oriented hotels.
Offering a mix of hotel rooms and self-catering apartments, its unassuming, modern interiors and central location offer a good option to couples of all ages. Great value if you book early enough.

The Seaview Hotel Malta is a fairly new addition in St. Paul’s Bay and is located at the seafront with – you guessed it – brilliant sea views. Expect a modern hotel with facilities to match the 4-star rating, paired with a few good restaurants at street level and comfortable rooms.
The different hotel rooms offered are spacious but obviously, the sea view type is offered at much higher rates (which are generally worth it). The city view rooms are only really an option if you can get a good deal because the views aren’t much to write home about, as you can imagine.
N.B. This hotel is advertised as being for “adults only”, so really only a good option for couples.

Located at the seafront, where Buġibba and Qawra meet, the Dolmen Hotel Malta has been a mainstay in the area for a while. With a 4-star rating, the hotel has built up a solid reputation over the years and maintains a high standard of accommodation.
Boasting a seaside lido with outdoor swimming pools and pool bar along Qawra’s seaside promenade, this is a popular resort to stay for couples and families with kids.

The Salini Resort is a hotel located just outside the Buġibba/Qawra/St. Paul’s Bay area, at Salina Bay.
It’s a good option for those looking to benefit from a quiet location suitable for exploring Malta. The big plus is that you’re not staying right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of what can be a rather busy location during the high season.
You get good quality and modern accommodation with relative peace and quiet. This hotel gets very good reviews now that it’s been revamped so definitely worth considering.

The Qawra Palace Hotel Malta is oriented towards family holidays and is one of the larger properties in the area. The hotel offers a good level of service and standard of accommodation, at reasonable rates.
Aside from a heated indoor pool, the hotel also offers an outside pool area across the road from its main premises.

Hotel Santana is a centrally-located hotel and is a good example of no-frills” hotels in St. Paul’s Bay, where you can enjoy a comfortable stay at reasonable nightly rates.
Located just around the corner from the Bugibba bus station and a 5-minute walk to the seafront, this is a solid choice if you’re on a budget.

The Soreda Hotel is a value option among hotels in Qawra, where you can stay for fairly low rates and yet enjoy a comfortable stay.
This hotel gets the basics right, offers decent amenities including a roof top swimming pool and terrace. The hotel’s rooms are clean and the food served at the restaurant meets expectations for most guests. Location-wise, you’ll be staying on the edge of town, close, but not on, the seafront.

Opened in 2022, the Ibis Styles is currently the most modern hotel in heart of Buġibba and is a great option for a comfortable hotel stay.
Located close to the main square and seafront but less exposed to the nightlife in the area, it’s a good location.

Things to consider
Pebbles Resort is a great little hotel in St. Paul’s Bay, just off the Bugibba square at the Bugibba seaside promenades.
Although it doesn’t quite reach the required level of amenities to classify as a 4-star hotel, its modern and clean interiors offer a welcoming stay in the area, while the service and restaurant make the hotel a compelling offering.

Refurbished in recent years, the Sunseeker Holiday Complex is consistently racking up positive reviews. It’s a good recommendation if you’re looking for a value stay in St. Paul’s Bay.

TIP: Request a room at the back of the hotel and on one of the higher floors. They’re quieter and offer better sea views.
Gillieru Harbour Hotel is one of the oldest standing Buġibba hotels, located at a small fishing harbour in St. Paul’s Bay. It’s probably the best among cheap hotels in Buġibba, so if you’re on a budget, look here first.
Its location is on the edge of the main Buġibba area, opposite the small St. Paul’s Shipwreck Church and next to a small fisherman’s harbour with its characterful coloured boats.

The Canifor Hotel is a cheap hotel option that can make for a decent holiday at the right price. Although it boasts a 4-star rating, the hotel and its facilities are quite dated and don’t really deserve that certification.
That doesn’t mean that it’s not an option to consider, however, as good value can still be had here, with the hotel getting the basics right. You get air conditioned rooms and the hotel also offers free wifi.

The Topaz Hotel is centrally located in Bugibba and offers good value accommodation with relatively low rates compared to other 3-star hotels in the area.
Receiving consistently good reviews for cleanliness, food served, and overall service, although the interiors are a little dated and the hotel could use a facelift.

St. Pauls Bay Malta covers a cluster of towns including Bugibba and Qawra in the North of Malta. It stretches from Xemxija Bay in the West to Salina Bay in the East.
Once a small fisherman’s village, the area is now a tourist hotspot with thousands of holidaymakers choosing to stay here.
The core of St. Paul’s Bay is the westernmost part of this cluster of towns and is a fairly quiet area compared to Bugibba and Qawra.
Public transport connections are good here, for example to get to Mellieha Bay (further up North) or to head out to the Maltese countryside.
It’s also the perfect location if you’d like to balance sightseeing with time at some of the best sandy beaches that Malta has to offer.
The town was named after St. Paul, who, according to the Bible, was shipwrecked in Malta while crossing the Mediterranean Sea on the way to Rome. The Feast of St Paul’s Shipwreck is a national public holiday in Malta, commemorating this important event to the fairly religious (largely Roman-Catholic) population.
