The db San Antonio has undergone a major renovation in recent years and is one of the best hotel/resort of its kind in the area at the moment.
It may not be the cheapest option in town but you can get much more value than the few comparable hotels in the area. Probably the most-deserving of its four stars among Bugibba hotels.
TIP: The sea-facing side of the hotel offers great views out towards St. Paul’s Island and is worth paying the premium for.
Nightly room rate starting from:
As you’d expect from the name, the Seaview Hotel Malta is located along the Bugibba seafront and offers wide-open sea views. Being a fairly new hotel in the area you can expect a modern design and a level of facilities that match the 4-star rating of this property.
Hotel rooms are bright, spacious and comfortable, the food gets good reviews and if you’re looking for some relaxation time, the infinity rooftop pool is an excellent option to unwind while taking in the views.
Please note: This hotel is advertised as welcoming “adults only”

The Dolmen Resort Hotel is located on the coast of Buġibba and is one of the better-known hotels in the area, with good quality accommodation.
With its seafront location, the hotel boasts a seaside lido with an outdoor pool, which is unique to hotels in this area.

The Salini Resort is a hotel located just outside the Buġibba/Qawra/St. Paul’s Bay area.
It’s a good option for those looking to benefit from a location suitable for exploring Malta while not being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of what can be a rather busy location during the high season.
Having undergone refurbishment recently, you get good quality and modern accommodation with relative peace and quiet. This hotel gets very good reviews now that it’s been revamped so definitely worth considering.
Nightly room rate starting from:
Hotel Santana is a centrally-located hotel and is a good example of a “no-frills” hotel in Bugibba, where you can enjoy a comfortable stay at reasonable nightly rates.
Located just around the corner from the local bus terminus and a 5-minute walk to the seafront, this is a solid choice if you’re on a budget.
Nightly room rate starting from:
The Soreda Hotel is located just a stone’s-throw away from the seafront and offers a good level of accommodation at reasonable rates.
With an outdoor pool on its roof terrace, well-equipped gym, and large restaurant, it’s a value offer compared to the other hotels listed in this category. Although technically a 4-star hotel, it’s not quite at the same level and looks a little tired in places.
Nightly room rate starting from:
Opened in 2022, the Ibis Styles is currently the most modern hotel in heart of Buġibba and is a great option for a hotel stay.
Located close to the main square and seafront but less exposed to the nightlife in the area, it’s a good location.
The rooms are modern, comfortable and spacious and the outdoor swimming pool is one of their best facilities.
Ibis Styles is an international franchise, with a reputation to maintain and they seem to be off to a good start. The reality is that few guests have stayed there so far, which means teething issues may arise. Pay attention to the reviews before you book.
Nightly room rate starting from:
Located on the (unofficial) border of Buġibba and Qawra, the Mayflower Hotel is a fairly new addition in the area that offers a quality stay in a modern setting.
Staying close to both the seaside promenade as well as the local bus terminus (with several direct bus routes to some of the most popular sightseeing destinations), this is a great hotel to choose to combine comfort with easy access to public transport.
Nightly room rate starting from:
Pebbles Resort is a great little hotel in the heart of Bugibba, just off the main seaside square.
Although it doesn’t quite reach the required level of amenities to classify as a 4-star hotel, its modern and clean interiors offer a welcoming stay in the area, while the service and restaurant make the hotel a compelling offering.
Nightly room rate starting from:
The Topaz Hotel is centrally located in Bugibba and offers good value accommodation with relatively low rates compared to other 3-star hotels in the area.
Receiving consistently good reviews for cleanliness, food served, and overall service, although the interiors are a little dated and the hotel could use a facelift.
Nightly room rate starting from:
Refurbished in recent years, the Sunseeker Holiday Complex is consistently racking up positive reviews and is a good recommendation if you’re looking for a value stay in Bugibba.
TIP: Request a room at the back of the hotel and on one of the higher floors. They’re quieter and offer better sea views.
Nightly room rate starting from:
Gillieru Harbour Hotel is one of the oldest standing Buġibba hotels, located at one of the smaller harbours of St. Paul’s Bay. It’s probably the best among cheap hotels in Buġibba, so if you’re on a budget, look here first.
Its location is on the edge of the main Buġibba area, opposite the small St. Paul’s Shipwreck Church and next to a small fisherman’s harbour with its characterful coloured boats.
The hotel itself is a solid choice for budget accommodation in the area, away from the busier parts of Buġibba.
Hotel interiors are a little dated, but all the basics are provided for well, and rooms are clean and staff friendly and helpful.
Sea-view rooms come at a premium but are worth their higher rates. After all, why stay right on the bay’s edge if you can’t enjoy the wide-open views?
The hotel restaurant is decent, but you’ll have several other options for dining out in the area as well.
Nightly room rate starting from:
Although fairly new in town, Tarona Guesthouse is a great option if you’re on a budget and aren’t too fussed about pools and other amenities that regular hotels offer. Centrally located on the border of St. Paul’s Bay, you’ll be staying in a slightly quieter part of Bugibba.
Nightly room rate starting from:
Buccaneers is a family-run guesthouse close to the Buġibba seafront and close to the Buġibba perched beach.
With 30 rooms, it’s one of the larger guesthouses in town and serves as a good budget option if you’re looking for a cheap stay.
Even though this is a budget-oriented guesthouse, the interiors and furniture are neat, air conditioning is included in the price and the food is well-reviewed.
Nightly room rate starting from:
Shamrock Apartments is a small family-run guesthouse that offers cheap accommodation in the area, that is centrally located. A shared pool is one of the main advertised perks here.
Although clean and well-sized, the air-conditioning comes at an additional fee, which you will definitely need during the hot summer months.
The apartments themselves offer little in terms of decoration but all the basics are provided and you get value for money.
Space is a plus, the location is good (fairly quiet yet central) and the few shared facilities provided are well looked after.
Nightly room rate starting from:
The Relax Inn Hotel is a budget-friendly option for travellers looking to stay in the heart of Buġibba for a low price.
You’ll be staying right around the corner from the main Buġibba square and seafront, with plenty of choice for dining out in the near vicinity.
The Relax Inn provides all the basics that you need, including a small rooftop swimming pool and breakfast buffet.
If you’re looking for more than just basics, there may be better options on this list. It’s also good to note that if you’re a light sleeper you might want to ask for a room at the back of the hotel rather than the street front. The location can get busy during the summer months and may be noisy until late in the evening.
Nightly room rate starting from:
A long-standing Buġibba hotel that’s recently been refurbished, Primera Hotel can be a good budget option for a cheap hotel stay.
It’s located in the heart of town, a stone’s throw away from the main square and seafront and provides basic accommodation for a low price.
It is very basic though, so you do get what you pay for. Interiors are modest and feel pretty dated while facilities like the outdoor pool are small. Maintenance isn’t always great, with guests complaining about breakages not being seen to quickly.
The hotel does have an indoor pool, which can come in handy during the colder months of the year. All in all, however, it’s an option if you need a comfortable bed to sleep on while you’re out and about during the day.
Buġibba is a small, but popular seaside tourist resort along the northern coastline of Malta, bordering the small towns of Qawra and St. Paul’s Bay.
It’s a great place to stay if you’re looking for budget hotels and family holiday package deals, with a variety of 3- and 4-star hotels as well as aparthotels and cheap/budget options.

Hi Jozita, it’s been a while since I’ve gotten reviews about that one but last I heard it was in dire need of refurbishment and wasn’t worth the rates charged. Also one of the reasons why I didn’t include it in the list above.
