Casa Rocca Piccola is truly a stunning gem among the other beautiful and historical buildings in Valletta.
It’s a fascinating 16th-century palace that gives a rare insight into the life of noble families in Malta’s more recent history.
Still used as a home to the de Piro family, the palace contains beautiful interiors, historical objects, and a wartime bomb shelter underneath the building.
Taking a guided tour of Casa Rocca Piccola is a great sightseeing option for those interested in history. From the beautiful interior of the dining room to the chapel, the collection of historical objects and the large bomb shelter, there’s plenty to discover here.
Alongside being a popular tourist attraction, did you know that Casa Rocca Piccola is now also a B&B? A couple of bedrooms in the Palace have been renovated to offer guests only the most memorable experience of the Palace.

Valletta: An Insider’s Guide to Malta’s Capital
Take the hassle out of planning your trip to Malta and be an informed traveller!
As some locals and tourists would agree, staying in Valletta is something quite special. As you wander around the narrow streets, the city, its charm and all its stories come to life.
What better way to make the most of your experience in the Capital than staying in a magnificent Palace with so much history?
So, first things first. Casa Rocca Piccola B&B is located in a prime location in the Capital. You’ll stay in the heart of Republic Street, close to most landmarks, shops, restaurants and bars.
As far as rooms go, there are 5 to choose from:
As you can tell, all rooms are cleverly designed with a different theme in mind. For example, the Cosimo Suite is named after Cosimo de Piro–the very first member of the family to settle in Malta in 1530. Meanwhile, the Santiago Room features a bed headboard that once became part of a Lisbon church decoration. Should you require a family room, Casa Rocca Piccola also has a couple of options that are suitable for bigger groups.
Depending on the room you choose, some of the features and amenities include a bath and/or shower, a tea/coffee maker, balconies that offer city or garden views, heating and access to Wi-FI. You will also be provided with clean linen and towels daily as well as free toiletries, and all rooms can be accessed with a lift/elevator.
What’s more, guests staying at Casa Rocca Piccola can enjoy a Free tour of the Palace.
Although there aren’t any features such as a swimming pool or a spa, Casa Rocca Piccola is still a solid choice for a stay in the city. After all, you don’t get to stay in a 16-century palace every day, right?
