The Phoenicia Hotel Malta is one of the most iconic hotels around the Maltese islands that offers a luxury option right on the doorstep of capital city Valletta.
Technically located in the neighbouring locality of Floriana, the 5-star hotel was built by the British back in the 1930s and hosted distinguished guests over the years, including Queen Elizabeth II. Surrounded by lavish gardens (including outdoor terrace) and commanding wide open sea views towards the North, much of its historic splendour remains intact.
After a major overhaul in recent years, the Phoenicia Hotel Malta has a fresh and lavish new interior while its characteristic and stately exterior has been refreshed. Rooms and amenities have been upgraded to the highest standards, meaning you get a great balance of comfort and luxury as well as practicality with Valletta and its bus terminus within a 5-minute stroll.
Tastefully decorated, most rooms are spacious and well-equipped, as you’d expect from a hotel in this category. The hotel’s facilities are up to scratch as well, with indoor pools, a fitness centre and well-reviewed restaurant, but a special mention has to be reserved for the pool terrace at the rear of the hotel that offers an outdoor infinity pool overlooking Marsamxett Harbour.
The rooms have a fresh and airy feel with a combination of white, blue and red interiors, large comfortable beds with a pillow menu to match individual preferences.
The Phoenicia Hotel Malta offers a great luxury stay for couples and families looking to spend time exploring Valletta and wanting easy access to other parts across the Maltese islands.
Malta Uncovered, run by a tourist-turned-expat, carefully curates the best hotels in Malta based on personal experience and local knowledge.
We returned to the Phoenicia for the third time, and it just gets better each time.
